Giving is just as much fun as getting.

Ethan loved picking out and paying for presents for everyone in the family this year.  He loved watching his Grandgray open the gift he chose.

Kids first?

I pick Ethan up from school each day, and wait in the lobby with all the other parents who are picking their kids up. There is one woman, who I’ve never really talked to, but see each day when she is waiting for her 5th grader. She waits in the lobby with her other son, an infant in a carrier seat. Today I walked out to the parking lot behind them, and watched as they got into the car. Her car was sporting one of the Kids First license plates, and once again, I reflected on how much I like those plates. We both pull out of the lot about the same time, me just behind her. Once on Virginia Beach Boulevard, we both go into different lanes and at the next stop light, I pull up directly beside her.

I watched as she rolled her window about a third of the way down, lit a cigarette and puffed happily away while her two young children sat in the car inhaling right along with her.

Kidss first? Nice try, lady.

I think I got it

The photo for my Christmas cards. I’d taken tons, but this captures the exact spirit of Christmas I was looking for. And if you could have heard the conversation inquisition, you would have died. Let me just say that Ethan has perfected the art of trying to prove/disprove the Santa theory.

The List

Ethan is getting very concerned that Christmas is approaching and we haven’t seen Santa yet. Last night we set a date with Misty to go see Santa tomorrow night. Ethan got his list all ready, and really took his time making sure it was legible and easy to understand. He kept wanting to put “new” in front of everything on his list, and he also wanted to make it much more detailed but I told him to try and make it short and sweet since Santa has so many lists to review.

I told him that he’s not getting the Labradoodle, but he said that decision is up to Santa, not me.

And obviously, he really believes he’s the KING because who the hell else would ask for a crown for Christmas?
