Kings Dominion 2009

We took a day trip to Kings Dominion today. Adam bought the tickets over a month ago, and they were good for today only. We really lucked out on both the weather and the crowds. When we arrived there were about 30 cars in the parking lot, and although it was a little cloudy for the first part of the day, the sun did come out and the temps were in the mid-70s. And yet it rained all day at home. It was truly a perfect day with no lines on ANY rides. Ethan had a total blast and said it was the best day of the summer.

You can see more pics here.

Can I just say…

That my house is a small disaster zone. In my quest to spend the end of summer vacation totally relaxing, I have let everything go. Tonight when I should have been doing a few things around the house, I instead went to Misty’s to watch a movie. We ordered chinese, and watched without dudes or kids. Something we NEVER get to do! That said, a messy house was a decent trade off for a fun night.

Surprising Saturday

Ever have one of those days that totally surprised you?  Was everything you didn’t expect it to be and more?  Today was one of those days.

The weather was supposed to full on suck.  It ended up being one of the most beautiful days of the summer.  Hot, sunny, a few puffy clouds, no humidity.

We were really thinking they’d stick us with one of the usual loser substitute guards at the pool, and we had a super nice guy.  Totally surprising considering the weirdo they sent to substitute yesterday.

I thought Ethan would be really bored today, and I not once had to entertain him.  Not even for a second.  I got to finish my book and start a new one.

We went out to dinner and Ethan wanted pizza.  Not at all what I wanted, but I ended up ordering an eggplant parmigiana sub and OMG, it was delicious.  Beyond delicious.

Maybe, from now on, I should start each of my days with the expectation of suckiness.  Perhaps then, I will spend each hour being pleasantly surprised by something unexpected.

Ethan and the frog

Lydia found a little bullfrog at the pool today. We brought it home and played with it a bit before we released it back into the wild.

The Price of Relaxation

With less than two weeks left before school starts, I have taken a vow to do nothing but relax and enjoy each day.  Because of that, my blogging attempts have failed miserably.  And before anyone asks what I’ve done other than ralax this summer, please understand that I’m talking TOTAL relaxation.  From morning until night.

Backgammon

Remember when backgammon was THE game?  Well, I haven’t played for years, but Lydia and I talked about it yesterday, and today she brought her mom’s backgammon set to the pool.  She taught Ethan how to play and re-taught me the game.  Now Ethan and I are both ready to get our own set.  Tomorrow we have plans for more backgammon at the pool!

Nothing beats swimming in the pool with the lights on!

Board Meeting Night and I’m a sucky blog friend

Tonight I had our BOD meeting, and I have nothing to say.  But I do want to apologize for being a sucky blog friend.  Summer is almost over (boo hoo) and I’ll be back into blogging, reading, commenting soon.

4th Annual Farewell to Summer Party

Farewell to Summer with just the girls this year. We had lots of good drinks and food, and invited a representative from Pure Passion to introduce us to her new line of sex toys. We had lots of laughs and those who were so inclined were able to take some fun things home with them.

Thanks to Misty (my friend and co-host) for taking all the fabulous photos at our Farewell to Summer Party.

You know what they say…

Rain or shine the party must go on!  And right now it is raining it’s ass off.  C’mon…I’ve got things to do and can’t even get across the street to the pool.  Blech!
